ABOUT

Consistency isn’t decided. It’s organised.

Shale came out of a simple observation: most people know what they should be doing. What’s missing isn’t willpower — it’s one place where everything holds together.

THE PROBLEM
WE STARTED FROM

Everyone has tried, and everyone has given up.

[TO COMPLETE — your personal story: the moment you realised the problem wasn’t motivation. Two or three concrete sentences beat an abstract paragraph: one specific day, one specific frustration.]

[TO COMPLETE — what you tried before: task apps, spreadsheets, notebooks, scattered notes. Why each one missed: too much configuration, too many silos, nothing that remembered what you did yesterday.]

[TO COMPLETE — the turning point: what you decided to build instead, and who for first.]

Make consistency possible without thinking about it: the tool remembers, you move forward.

WHAT MAKES
SHALE DIFFERENT
01

One place, not twelve apps

Goals, tasks, focus, notes, journal, tracking: in a single window that remembers what you did yesterday. No data to copy from one tool to another.

02

Tracking happens on its own

The journal writes itself from what you actually do in the app. You don’t have to document your own day for it to be measured.

03

Your data stays with you

On macOS everything lives in a local file you can take with you. Whatever goes to the server to sync your devices is encrypted on your machine, with a key we do not hold. No access to your broker, no API key forced on you.

04

We measure behaviour, not outcome

Streaks, consistency and how well you follow your own rules are measured. The financial result is far too noisy to tell you whether you’re improving.

05

No gamification, no judgement

No points, no leaderboard, no comparison with other users. Reminders do exist — streak at risk, habits left unchecked — but they are computed on your machine, capped per day, and each one can be switched off in the settings. The only benchmark is who you were thirty days ago.
