When the company pays.
Business sells the commercial right to use Shale, invoiced to the company, from two seats. It's not a team edition: each seat keeps its own data, and nothing is shared between members.
If you're looking for a collaborative tool — shared boards, comments, assignments — Shale isn't that tool, and it's better to know before you buy.

What Business isn't

- No data shared between seats

- No activity reports on your staff
That's a choice: Shale is made for the person who opens it in the morning, not for monitoring them.

The questions that always come up
How do you add or remove a seat?
The number of seats is chosen at checkout, from two to five, and can then be adjusted from the billing portal — prorated. The people who hold the seats are invited by email address from your account.
An employee leaves: what happens to their data?
Their data belongs to them and stays on their machine, encrypted with their password. The company can't retrieve it, and we can't decrypt it: that's the direct consequence of end-to-end encryption.
Can we pay by bank transfer, against an invoice?
Beyond five seats, yes, by quote. Write to us: the invoice is issued in the company's name.
Can seats try it first?
Yes: the company subscribes with a seven-day trial, seats included. Nothing is charged before day 8, and cancelling before then costs nothing.
